Shon Katahira

Shon Katahira

Sport: golf

Katahira showed his growth, both in his game and his build, last Wednesday at the first BIIF golf meet of the season.

Featuring a strong driver, the Waiakea junior carded a 4-under 68 at Volcano to take medalist honors by three shots.

Katahira’s improvements come as he tries to catch up to teammate Trevor Hirata, who won the BIIF crown last season by 17 shots.

“I want to win the BIIF title. Patience is the key,” Katahira told the Tribune-Herald. “There are two rounds for the BIIF championship. You can’tget complacent after the first round. You have to buckle down and stay patient.
